A Foggy Day. recorded with a G-Vox. Needs a few corrections in sensitivity but what the hell... |
All The Things You Are ....and then some. This has gotta be one of my all time favorites. |
Angel Eyes
....My attempt at having two guitarists compliment each other using two different soloists files. |
April in Paris
....Parker soloist/BiaB midi by me trying for a Parker with Strings type arrangement. |
Ain't Misbehavin'
...Here's one sent to me by
Bob "Notes" Norton
who has created a whole bunch of great styles
for use in Band in a Box. Here's an example of one of his
big band styles.Be sure to visit his web site. |
|
Anniversary Waltz
.... done by good friend Carl Putnicki in a rush for a gig. This is the 'raw' BiaB version
before he tweaked it. Carl
has put together a great 'big band' sound using 5 live musicians
and 8 to 12 midi musicians. His daughter and son-in-law provide the vocals. Check his site
for gig dates and booking info.

Anniversary Waltz after Carl tweaked it.
|
Bag's Groove
....using Parker Soloist. |
Ballad For Bob
....an original I picked up somewhere on the web. |
Besame Mucho
.... live take by Buddy Prima when I first showed him the BiaB program. In the
2nd chorus I stuck a phone to his ear and he heard a cousins voice for the
first time in many years. Break time! |
BeBop
...played by a swingin' BiaB group. Vibes and guitar take melody in octaves then solos
by guitar, vibes, piano and, dig that bass man, before going out again in unison, this time
with bass carrying the melody also.
.... |
Beethoven's 5th
....with new classical style from BiaB. |
Bach Invention
....different medody every time using the classical
soloist. |
Body and Soul
....Getz/Jobim style. Stan would have been proud
of this solo. |
Doing Basie's Thing
....From Gary's Home Page
-Gary's extensive list of great big band
arrangements. He tells me he used BiaB for the rhythm section on this one. Check out his link. |
Chris' Salsa An original composition by the son of Claude Ciaro.
|
Cee Jay One An original by Rob Fletcher. Example of a mood theme using Band in a Box. No melody line.
|
Cherokee as played by Joe Pass. This midi was converted from a Band in a Box format which
was sent to me by one of my visitors. I expanded it to 3 chorusus and added the Joe Pass soloist for the
second two choruses for comparison purposes.

Donna Lee
....vibes & guitar on Indiana changes. This is another old bebopper standard. |
Drifting Down the River
.....another tune composed by Wes' Uncle
Sidney Arodin (nee Arnondin). His most famous is 'Lazy River' with lyrics
by Hoagy Carmichael. Most of Sid's tunes were based on arpeggios on simple chord progressions
which, he told me, were 'warm up' excercises on his clarinet played very fast before a gig.
.... |
East of the Sun
....I did this one from memories of an old Shearing record using his style with BiaB |
.... |
Four Brothers
....Another of Gary's Big Band Arrangements. |
....The quality of the sound you are hearing is dependent upon your sound card or sound canvas
and your speaker system. I'm running these sounds thru a Roland SC88vl and then piped thru
my home stereo system and the output is CD quality. |
Georgia
.... my wife's home state. |
.... |
Indiana
.... is where I grew up. |
Girl from Ipanema
.... Getz/Jobim naturally. |
Jambalaya
....Gotta have some of our Cajun music. |
Joy Spring
....this is a 'live' take by a good friend,
Buddy Prima, done on my Casio CT1000. |
Just the Way You Are
....I have set the tenor sax sound to 'breathy tenor' on my sound canvas SC88vl to give a Stan
Getz sound on this one. Nice sexy warm tone. |
King of the Road The style used on this one was submitted to me by a user who
added pitch bends.
|
Lazy River
....written by my uncle
Sid Arnondin and
one of the old standards. For Lil, his daughter and my cousin. |
Limehouse Blues
....Le Jazz Hot with Django and friends. Another example of the versatility of BiaB. |
Charlie Brown
.... where's Lucy? |
Lover
....uptune featuring two BiaB guitarists having
a ball inside my computer. |

the "Box" |
When the Saints Go Marchin' In
